Fiction / SSALI COLLECTION

Muthangari Close Moms

By Rose Ssali

Every home has a story. Together, they make a neighbourhood.

Ten families share a close in Nairobi. An attorney, a doctor, a former basketball star, a designer and a singer meet beneath the jacarandas, where a gazebo becomes a place to gather, celebrate and work through the problems of everyday life. As change approaches, their shared world faces a new test.

The books brought everyone together. — author collection

The books brought everyone together.

The conversation wanders into the garden. A scarf stays on the chair. The candle burns a little longer. Bring a little of that afternoon home.

MUTHANGARI CLOSE MOMS / THE JACARANDA EDITION

Under the jacarandas.

The jacarandas leave a small trace: a sprig on the tee, a little colour at the edge of the scarf. The book remains the centre of this quiet neighbourhood collection.
