THE VOICES OF SSALI / AUTHOR, CHIEF EDITOR & CEO

Rose Ssali

Rose Ssali

Literature · Publishing · African voices

Rose Ssali is an author, editor, and publisher, and the Chief Editor and CEO of Ssali Publishing House. Her work moves between the intimate and the public: fiction and poetry alongside reflections on faith, human dignity, education, and the questions that shape a society. Across titles such as Wings Inflight, While There’s Ink in My Pen, Tides of Imagination, and The Right to Remain Human, she makes room for both the life of the individual and the world that surrounds it.

As a publisher, she brings that same attentiveness to the voices of others. The Ssali collection places memoirists beside scholars, emerging writers beside established public figures, with selected works published in collaboration with UNISA Press. Her contribution is found in the work of listening, shaping, and carrying a manuscript towards its readers. It is a commitment to African authorship as a lasting record: of lived experience, of ideas, and of stories that deserve to remain in circulation.

The books brought everyone together. — author collection

The books brought everyone together.

The conversation wanders into the garden. A scarf stays on the chair. The candle burns a little longer. Bring a little of that afternoon home.
